CERTUS BIOMEDICAL MOVES PREMISES

Cornwall-based medical equipment service specialists Certus Biomedical has expanded its team and moved premises.

Specialising in medical equipment service and supply, the team of 18 has moved to a standalone business unit in Indian Queens.

Founded in 2021, the company started its journey at the Health & Wellbeing Innovation Centre, on the outskirts of Truro, with six staff.

Having trebled the employee headcount in less than two years, the team of highly skilled engineers have also expanded into the public health sector.

The new unit includes a purpose-built anaesthetic vaporiser service centre, that carries out extensive maintenance and repairs on life critical devices.

Outside of the county, Certus’ fleet of engineers provide vital services, repairs, and bespoke installations for public health and veterinary practices across the UK.

Managing director of Certus Biomedical, Joe Butcher, said: “Following a big contract win in 2022, we have accelerated our growth to what it is today – a team of 18 engineers working across a variety of specialised industries. Moving premises is an important milestone in our business life, which we wouldn’t have got to without the support of Cornwall Innovation. The business level support and flexibility we received has allowed us to step up to the next stage of our growth, at the right time for our business.”

Matt Harrington, head of Cornwall Innovation Centres, added: “Cornwall is a hub of business knowledge, and with highly trained individuals, such as the team at Certus, it’s important for us to harness this talent within the county. Certus Biomedical is a Cornwall Innovation success story. Joe and the team have grown from strength-to-strength, and we’re so proud of what they’ve achieved. We wish Joe, Gemma and the team at Certus the best of luck in their new unit.”
