Salary:                        £22,717 p.a rising to £23,460 p.a. from 1st August 2024.

The Role:

The Health & Wellbeing Innovation Centre (HWIC) is located at Treliske and is one of three Innovation Centres in Cornwall managed on behalf of Cornwall Council by UoPEL, part of University of Plymouth,

HWIC offers flexible office space and is home to more than 35 individual high growth companies, primarily working in the health sector. In addition, HWIC has several meeting and conference rooms ranging in size from a 4-person meeting room to a large Conference suite capable of hosting over 100 delegates complete with adjacent break out facilities. These rooms are available for hire on a day, half day or hourly basis to both internal and external companies.

The Event Assistant is part of a small operational team based at HWIC and is responsible for promoting the available meeting rooms, responding to enquiries, booking customers using bespoke software and ultimately facilitating subsequent meeting and conference activity in the Centre to includes the provision of any catering via the onsite café facility.

The Event Assistant role is customer facing and as a consequence, you will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service to both the host client booking the meeting rooms and the delegates on the day of the event. The Event Assistant will be accountable for all aspects of the event including room layout and will be the single point of contact leading up to and during the event. In addition, the Event Assistant will be responsible for regularly providing accurate meeting room and event booking details to the Centre Administrator for subsequent invoicing purposes.

The Event Assistant will work in conjunction with the HWIC Receptionist to provide occasional front of house cover during lunch times and busy periods in the Centre. This ensures that HWIC delivers an efficient and consistent Visitor experience for both visitors to the Centre as well as event attendees.

The Event Assistant will be expected to occasionally travel to the other Cornwall Innovation Centres from time to time in order to provide cover or participate in training. Free onsite parking is available in the centre car parks.

This is a permanent contract position working 37.5 hours per week
