Pop-up Innovation Centre opens in Launceston

Launceston has welcomed their first Pop-up Innovation Centre to the town following a successful launch event on 11th January. The Pop-up Innovation Centre, opened by Mayor of Launceston Town Council, Margaret Young was supported by partners of Acceleration Through Innovation (ATI) and local businesses.

The launch highlighted how the project is reaching out across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to take the concept and good practices developed by the Cornwall Innovation Centres out to the wider business community. Following a networking breakfast, presentations were delivered by ATI’s Jo Hancock, Senior Project Manager and John Hutchings, Innovation Fund Manager in addition to, Matthew Harrington, the Cornwall Innovation Centres Manager.

The first Pop-up Innovation Centre to be located in North Cornwall hopes to bring local businesses together through a series of workshops and networking events. With a permanent Innovation Advisor on hand to support businesses with their innovation journey, those visiting the centre will benefit from a range of resources including hot desks, meeting rooms and complimentary wifi.

Acceleration Through Innovation (ATI) is a three year £3 million ERDF project which aims to support business innovation across Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. Led by the University of Plymouth in partnership with Cornwall Innovation, the project drives a culture of innovation, supporting businesses who are looking to adopt innovative processes or who have aspirations to bring a new product or service to the market.
