Business Support Update – May 2026

Help us, please! What do you want?

We are planning on creating more business events across our three centres to support you. Let Rebecca know what your challenges are and how we can support you. What do you need help with? Sales, marketing, cash flow, understanding tax, team dynamics, how to have more confidence, etc.

With your input, we can create exactly what you want. We can bring in expert speakers or feature you, if you want to promote your expertise.

Morning café sessions

Rebecca usually works from the cafes in each centre until around 10 am, so pop along and have a chat. Rebecca’s network is large, and there is nothing she loves more than introducing people to each other, whether clients of Cornwall Innovation or outside business contacts.

The CIC Podcast

After a successful inaugural podcast session, we hosted five businesses based at Pool Innovation Centre. Topics discussed with Rebecca ranged from:

  • How to pay less tax (T&A Kirk)
  • The increasing need for private tutors for school children across the UK (Long Term Teachers)
  • How to protect both landlords and tenants with the ever-changing compliance of the property industry (LetCheck)
  • Renewable systems for off-site security needs (Green Power Solutions)
  • Mining rights and how you don’t always own the land your house is built on (Groundsure)!

If you are a business based at the Health and Wellbeing Innovation Centre, Truro, and would like to feature, please get in touch with Rebecca to register your interest. By collaborating with us on our podcast, your business will be showcased to our social media followers, and vice versa. The essence of a perfect collaboration is being mutually beneficial.

You can listen to our podcasts here: YouTube channelApple music and Spotify.

  • How AI can refresh a website and support better enquiries
  • How SEO, Local Services Ads (where eligible) and PPC fit together sensibly

Cuppa and Chat’

If you cringe at the thought of chatting to someone you don’t know, but you understand why you need to do it, for business growth, for personal growth, and to finally find out who that person is who you always see in the kitchen, this is your chance!

Come and enjoy a cuppa and a pastry in a welcoming environment and leave whenever you want. No awkward 30-second introductions, simply friendly people who most likely are not fans of meeting new people either.

One client who attended the Pool Innovation Centre’s  ‘Cuppa and Chat’ commented:

12th May           Health and Wellbeing Innovation Centre

2nd June             Tremough Innovation Centre

3rd June             Pool Innovation Centre

Cornwall Innovation’s Business Competition winner

Rebecca has started working with our Business Competition winner, Lisa Haywood from Stutt Associates. Due to the mentor – mentee confidentiality that exists, nothing can be shared, except they took advantage of the sunshine and did a walk and talk session, where some real ‘blue sky thinking’ was achieved. Watch this space for Lisa’s updates on her business growth soon.

Business support

If you would like to explore how business mentoring and strategy can help you, this is a complimentary service for all CIC clients. Everything spoken about is confidential on how Rebecca can support you in your business, or want further information on any of the below, please email Rebecca.loto@plymouth.ac.uk.
