Pool Innovation Centre, Cornwall: Pool Innovation Centre is proudly celebrating 15 years of supporting the region’s entrepreneurs, start-ups and scale-ups.
Since opening in July 2010, Cornwall’s first purpose-built Innovation Centre has created an entrepreneurial ecosystem aimed at helping businesses grow by delivering bespoke business support to high-growth companies. During this time, Pool Innnovation Centre has welcomed more than 250 businesses through its doors, covering a wide range of sectors including technology, health, sustainability, creative industries, and engineering.
Operated by the University of Plymouth on behalf of Cornwall Council, Pool Innovation Centre has created a collaborative community of like-minded companies by offering flexible workspace, in-house business support and a vibrant place to work.
Matt Harrington, Head of Cornwall Innovation Centres, said: “Pool Innovation Centre is a shining example of how regional innovation centres can foster entrepreneurial communities and stimulate local economic growth. For 15 years, we’ve supported businesses that are solving real-world challenges, creating high-value jobs, and putting Cornwall on the map as a place of innovation.”
PSG Cornwall was one of the early success stories of the Pool Innovation Centre, where it was proudly based for over 14 years. As a leading provider of property searches and EPCs, the company has delivered tailored support for over 50,000 property transactions. The company was recently acquired by the Canadian firm Dye & Durham.
Simon Gill, Managing Director of PSG Cornwall, said: “Pool Innovation Centre gave us the space and flexibility to grow at our own pace while being surrounded by other forward-thinking businesses. The supportive environment helped us build confidence, collaborate and scale sustainably.”
The most recent addition to the centre is TEC Construction, providing one of the South West’s leading construction firms with a foothold in Cornwall.
Matt Harrington added: “As we look to the future, we’re proud of everything our businesses have achieved and excited to support the next wave of innovators shaping Cornwall’s future.”
The Cornwall Innovation Centres comprise of three locations across Cornwall: the Health & Wellbeing Innovation Centre in Truro (Treliske), the Pool Innovation Centre in Pool, and the Tremough Innovation Centre in Penryn.
